Program Specifications

PhD in Mathematics / Program Overview



The program began at the University of Jordan in 1996, the only program in Jordan, and the student to end 54 hours, including:

-21 hours Compulsory courses

-15 hours optional courses

-18 credit hours in preparing a thesis

-Successful examination of the cognitive competence of doctoral students

The basic courses include several areas: analysis, algebra, topology, applied mathematics, and statistics.

​Program Aims:

​​​1.Develop effective critical thinking for students and provide them with a high ability to abstraction and give them knowledge and skills in pure and applied mathematics.

2.Develop students' skills for effective communication.

3.The student should combine applications, theory and problem solving.

4.Students use technological tools to solve mathematical problems.

​5.Students should be able to write and publish scientific research in specialized scientific journals.

6. Students should be able to secure a career as teachers of mathematics in universities and higher institutes.
