The Royal Decree was issued to establish the University of Jordan in 1962 and the School of Science was one of the first Schools at the university, where the college was established in 1965, and teaching began in early October
of the same year. The beginning was with four departments: Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Life Sciences.

Where the number of buildings for the departments of the college became six, in addition to the building of the Deanship of the College and the building of the nuclear accelerator (of the Department of Physics) in addition to the auditorium of the martyr and Wasfi Al-Tal, which can accommodate (250) people.
The college includes many research laboratories that contain advanced scientific devices, most notably resonance devices
Nuclear magnetic, mass spectroscopy, single crystal X-ray and fluorescent X-rays,
