School of science LAMBDA Physics Group Marks 10th Anniversary, Announces International Contest Winners

The University of Jordan’s (UJ) School of Science concluded today the celebration of the 10th anniversary of its LAMBDA Physics Group under the theme “A Decade of Excellence in Physics Outreach and Science Popularisation.” The ceremony highlighted the group’s achievements over the past decade and honoured the winners of the international “Beauty of Physics: Bridging Science and Art” contest.​.

The event featured a video showcasing LAMBDA’s journey since its establishment. Former members also shared reflections on their experiences and the group’s role in promoting physics among students and the wider community.

Dean of the School of Science, Prof. Mahmoud Jaghoub, commended LAMBDA’s efforts in nurturing scientific curiosity and promoting public engagement with physics, highlighting the importance of making physics a more enjoyable and accessible subject. He also underscored that this anniversary coincides with the School of Science’s 60th anniversary.

LAMBDA’s founding supervisor, Prof. Hanan Sa’adeh, presented an overview of this year’s international contest, which attracted submissions from multiple countries across three categories: Quantum, Light, and General Physics. She also highlighted the evaluation criteria and the diversity of creative works submitted.

During the ceremony, the winning artworks and written pieces were showcased, representing a wide spectrum of artistic and cultural backgrounds. The winners were as follows:

Quantum Category

The ceremony also honoured the winner of the “Mind-Blowing Physics” competition, Aya Abdel-​Hayy, and the designer of LAMBDA’s 10th anniversary logo, Hala Al-Saif (student at the School of Art and Design), as well as a group of student volunteers who contributed to the event’s success.
