- What
processes are followed for evaluation of teaching and learning
experiences, assessment methods, and the effectiveness of the curriculum
or study plan:
Processes followed for evaluation of teaching and
learning experiences:
-
Course work: Exams, assignments, projects,
presentations of projects.
-
Ph.D qualifying exam: Basic and advanced.
- Participate
in a research project.
-
Writing a quality research paper that is publishable in an accredited
journal.
-
Attending seminars , workshops and conferences.
Assessment methods: Are
based on assessing and evaluating the extent to which the student outcomes
are being attained and to assure the achievement of the program objectives.
The results of these evaluations are systematically utilized as input for the
continuous improvement of the program. The program uses two assessment
methods:
1- Direct: By evaluating the data collected each
semester such as: instructor evaluation,
ph.d qualifying results, number of publications made by students.
2- Indirect: Students exit survey,
feedback from employers, feedback from alumni, and current students survey.
Effectiveness
of the curriculum or study plan:
The
program curriculum or study plan is regularly reviewed by the constituencies.
The primary constituents of the process for establishing, reviewing and
assessing objectives are the faculty members, the alumni, and the employers.
The employers are represented by an advisory Board , which consists almost
exclusively of alumni. Alumni at large are the primary source of data for
assessing objectives, through alumni surveys.
- What
processes are followed to obtain feedback from students enrolled in the
program about the quality of teaching and learning experiences provided:
- At the beginning of each semester,
the head of the department and the graduate studies committee meet all
graduate students and discuss with them the quality of teaching and learning
experiences, their needs and the study plan.
- Students evaluation of teachers at
the end of each semester is taken into consideration as a feedback of the
quality of teaching and learning.
- What
processes are followed to develop the skills, knowledge and capabilities
of faculty members:
-
Encouraging
faculty members to attend the workshops that are conducted by the Accreditation
and Quality assurance Centre at the University of Jordan.
-
Encouraging
Faculty members to participate in international conferences and workshops.
-
Facilitating
the process for faculty members to participate and be leaders in
international research groups.
-
Maintaining
the weekly research seminar that is managed by faculty members and graduate
students.
-
Inviting
well known scholars to the Mathematics research seminars.
- What
indicators and standards are used to guarantee commitment to quality in
the program:
- The
graduate studies committee monitor the progress students make throughout the
program.
- The
graduate studies committee and the curriculum committee meet regularly to
evaluate the assessment process and the attainment of the program outcomes.
- The
department council meets regularly and discuss the recommendations made by
the graduate studies committee regarding the Ph.D program to enhance and
guarantee the quality of the program.
- Monitoring
the records of our graduates both in research and academia to guarantee the achievement of the program objectives.
