The
department offers a program that will grant students a doctorate in
chemistry. The program covers all aspects of chemistry (organic, inorganic,
analytical and physical chemistry). The requirements of the programme are to
pass 54 credit hours that will include 24 obligatory credit hours and 15
elective credit hours. The passing grade is C+ and the cumulative average is
3 out of 4 and above. The student should pass a comprehensive exam in the
four fields of chemistry (organic, inorganic, analytical and physical
chemistry). After that the student will do a research and then write a thesis
and defend it (18 credit hours).
The PhD programme in chemistry has around 30
students. 37 staff members graduated from the top universities in the world
are responsible for teaching and supervising these students with more than 30
supporting employees. There are several well equipped laboratories with
several advanced instruments available for students' research.
