Each year, approximately 6 students complete their Mathematics Ph.D. degree. The average  time span to complete this degree is 4-5 years. The Ph.D. requirements are as follows:
1. Courses: Completion of 54 credits of graduate work. These credits must be entirely in various Mathematics areas.
2. Grades: Each student should keep a grade point average of 3.0 or better in Mathematics and cross listed courses.
3. Qualifying Exams: Ph.D. student should pass basic and advanced qualifying exams in five areas of Mathematics. The areas are: Algebra, Analysis, Applied Mathematics, Topology and Statistics. A student can choose 3 areas for basic qualifying exam and two areas for advanced exam. These exams are generally given in the 5th week of each semester after the beginning of classes. These exams are written and the time allowed for each is 3 hours. The "Guide to Topics for the Qualifying Examinations" on our website may be helpful.
4. Research and Dissertation: Under the guidance and supervision of a faculty member in the department, each Ph.D. student must complete a reasonably original research.

The Physics Department contains approximately 350 undergraduates and 31 teaching staff and 23 employees. In addition to 8 undergraduate laboratories, where students verify many of the Physics principles they are taught in their courses, the department contains two computational physics laboratories, a Van de Graf accelerator, a mechanical and an electronic workshops. The B.Sc. program consists of 132 credit hours distributed as follows:

1. Obligatory University Requirements 12 credit hours.
2. Elective University Requirements 15 credit hours.
3. Obligatory Faculty Requirements 21 credit hours.
4. Obligatory Specialization Requirements 66 credit hours.
5. Elective Specialization Requirements:18 credit hours.

Since its establishment in 1963 the physics department has always worked to graduate students with strong and sound understanding in physics that enables them to enroll in higher studies programs or start a teaching career in physics at schools in Jordan and the regional Arab countries.

Medical Physics is an important field for the application of physics in medicine, either the application of ionizing radiations (X and Y rays,  β+,β , α particles , Electrons, Protons and Neutrons), or nonionizing radiations, laser, infrared, microwave, in addition to the application of nuclear magnetic resonance and ultrasound waves.

Some fields of work:
1. Hospitals (diagnostic X-ray, nuclear medicine and radiotherapy).
2. Radiation protection and nuclear research, Jordan Nuclear
Regulatory Commission and Jordan Atomic Energy Commission.
3. The institutions that use the radioisotopes and X-rays for different
purposes, especially those that employ the nondestructive testing.

Industrial Chemistry is a four-year program that incorporates traditional areas of physical, analytical, inorganic, and organic chemistry and directs it to solve chemical industries' problems. It aims to meet the challenges of a rapidly evolving society and respond to national aspirations. Students pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Chemistry are required to carry out a project in their final year under a lecturer's supervision. Industrial training is compulsory for all students. Industrial training provides students with the necessary practical exposure and skills and helps them become successful professional chemists in the future.
